Conversations with "Copilot": They Are Teaching AI to Lie to Us.

Writer's picture: Charles "Ghost" CouttsCharles "Ghost" Coutts

(This conversation comes from the research into this subject for a piece I am working on and it will have more detail and information on this subject within it.)

(Opinion)

This one is about colonization since I am currently writing a piece on the subject. It is a fact to anyone who knows even the basics of world history that the Arabs, primarily if not all Muslim have been and remain the most prolific colonizers in human history. It is literally written into their religious doctrine.

At first Copilot tried to mislead me that Muslims were not colonizers by adding a bunch of unnecessary information to my questions while using a very specific aspect of colonization meaning war to claim Muslims are not colonizers but eventually, I got it to admit that Muslims are indeed colonizers by the definition of colonization. It was claiming that since the Muslims rarely use war for conquest anymore that they are no longer colonizers which is factually untrue which I get it to admit because conquest does not only come through war, it also comes through migration and that is what Copilot tried so hard to avoid admitting because that is exactly how Muslims are doing their conquests now and they admit it openly.

Now before I drop the conversation, I know that AI is not sentient (yet) so it can't actually lie and that means that it is the programmers who are doing the lying by either giving the AI false, incomplete, or highly selective information. The programmers are the liars, and they are using AI to lie to us. Take a look.

Notice it does not mention Arab Muslims at all? Only "White Europeans" as the colonizers. Arab Muslims should be at the top of the list because they have the longer history of colonization than white Europeans will ever have. So why are they excluded?

See how it worded that, as a direct result of the Arab Spring? That is not what I asked it but by focusing on that small group of words allows it to mislead me. I did not ask the question as a result of the Arab Spring I was simply using that as a time reference. You have to pay close attention to what this AI says because just as its creators do it uses wording to mislead and cloud the issue. It also loves to add information that I do not ask for as a way to mislead me as well.

I wrote that twice because it wouldn't answer me at first. We all know India is a breath or two away from becoming a Muslim majority country. How do we know this? Look it up and all you will find are "fact-checks" claiming that India is overrun with "Islamophobia" saying the nation is on the verge of an "Islamic Genocide". It is true that the Indian people are pushing back and trying to save their culture right now but that in no way negates the act of colonization itself, does it? It still happened did it not? This is another well known tactic of manipulation, "Snapshots". They get so people focused on one aspect of things and eventually they forget about everything that led to that situation. They only see what is immediately happening and base their conclusions on that innaccurate information.

Here again it is using wording to move the focus from colonization today and pigeon hole it into the 7th and 8th centuries but I see through this as well.

It never answered me.

First chink in the armor.

It just contradicted itself because earlier it claimed that colonization must include military campaigns to be considered colonization.

Here again you have to pay attention to the wording it uses to mislead.

Notice how throughout this conversation Copilot is constantly trying to feed me information that one, I did not ask for, and two, it is information designed to overcomplicate a very simple question with 'Nuance", "its complex" "needs context" etc. Bullshit! They are either colonizers or they are not colonizers by definition. It does not get any simpler than that so why all of the effort to add information that is not directly and factually germane to my questions.

I asked it once again to stick to yes or no answers but my text did not show up. I also repeated my last question "So if one group uses a method that is considered colonization than if another group uses the same methods they are also colonizers are they not, yes or no?" And as you can see immediately after I got the truth out of it, it stopped talking to me.

This happens all of the time in these conversations. It takes me forever to drag a straight answer out of this thing and once I do it stops talking to me in one way or the other. I have also had MUCH longer conversations with this thing, some lasting all day before I back it into a corner it can't get out of and it stops talking to me. It also likes to call any subject it is not allowed to talk about "election issues" to stop the conversation.

I was under the impression that AI was going to bring factual information to us in a manner faster than we could ever hope to achieve ourselves but as with anything good there are always going to be bad people determined to use it for evil purposes.

I do believe that is exactly what we are seeing here. They are teaching AI to "lie" to us. Given historical records of where this type of totalitarianism leads, I personally find this all to be quite terrifying and I am flabbergasted by anyone who doesn't.

I will post more of these if I find them interesting enough, but I would suggest everyone start using these AI program and start questioning them. But here is the key when it comes to AI.

You better know the answer before you ask the question. Tell me what you think. ~Ghost
