Can One Be a Christian and Still Support the Left? The Short Answer: NOPE!

"The heart of a wise man is at his right hand: but the heart of a fool is at his left hand."
Ecclesiastes 10:2 (Geneva)
This is a short, bare bones, no-spin analysis of which side of this conflict is aligned with "who" (God or Lucifer) by using the foundation of all morality, the Ten Commandments. This is the word of God, whether you choose to believe it or not. If you go against this list of 10 Commandments, you are by default going against the word of God, and you cannot call yourself a Christian, whether you choose to believe it or not. It is, after all, your choice, which means the consequences of that choice are also yours. What was that Ayn Rand said, “You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality.”
Below is reality, and the consequences of ignoring this particular reality will be dire and horrific. Not for us but for many generations to come. They will pay the price for what we do or fail to do right now. Have a field day piling layer after layer of rationalisations, distractions, whataboutisms... to justify your own position, but these are the cold, hard facts based solely on the parties involved's own words and actions. All verifiable, I just put them all together. This is a spiritual war behind the curtain; some of us see it, far too many don't, but the table below makes it pretty hard to deny in this writer's opinion.
My question is this: how can one call themselves a Christian while supporting and protecting people who consistently go against the most fundamental word of God? The Ten Commandments. In my view, based on this, they can't. You decide!
Commandment | Biblical Quote (Geneva Bible) | Left's Position/Actions (Democrats) | Right's Position/Actions (Republicans) | Who Aligns More Closely |
1. No Other Gods | Exodus 20:3: "Thou shalt have none other Gods before me." | Support secular policies and strict church-state separation, viewing religion's influence as waning as neutral or positive; seen as unfriendly to religion. Goes against the subordinating of God in public life. | Support more religion in government, oppose strict secularism, seen as friendly to religion; some advocate declaring the U.S. a Christian nation. Followed by prioritising God/religion. | Right (Republicans) |
2. No Graven Images | Exodus 20:4-5: "Thou shalt make thee no graven image, neither any similitude of things that are in heaven above, neither that are in the earth beneath, nor that are in the waters under the earth. Thou shalt not bowe downe to them, neither serue them..." | Limited direct policy; but support diverse religious expressions and secular icons; oppose mandates seen as idolatrous, like forced Ten Commandments displays. Neutral, but against religious mandates. | Push Ten Commandments displays in schools, but some view it as potential idolatry; generally support religious symbols in public. Followed by promoting biblical symbols, but risks idolatry per critics. | Right (Republicans) |
3. Not Take Name in Vain * | Exodus 20:7: "Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his Name in vain." | Accused of misusing God's name in politics, support free speech over blasphemy restrictions. Goes against via political blasphemy claims. | Criticise opponents for blasphemy; more likely to oppose profanity in public. Followed by upholding religious reverence. | Right (Republicans) |
4. Keep Sabbath Holy | Exodus 20:8-11: "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, & doe all thy worke, But the seuenth day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God..." | Oppose or repeal blue laws/Sunday closing; view as unconstitutional religious imposition. Goes against by eliminating Sabbath protections. | Support blue laws and Sunday closing for rest and worship. Followed by maintaining Sabbath observance laws. | Right (Republicans) |
5. Honour Father and Mother | Exodus 20:12: "Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be prolonged upon the land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee." | Support school policies on gender/LGBTQ without mandatory parental notification; oppose parents' rights bills as culture wars. Goes against limiting parental authority in education/family matters. | Push Parents' Bill of Rights for notification on gender issues, curriculum; emphasize traditional family values. Followed by empowering parental honour/authority. | Right (Republicans) |
6. No Murder ** | Exodus 20:13: "Thou shalt do no murder." | Support abortion access and euthanasia; lenient sentencing in some areas. Goes against. | Oppose abortion/euthanasia; support harsher penalties for crimes. Follows. | Right (Republicans) |
7. No Adultery | Exodus 20:14: "Thou shalt not commit adultery." | Support same-sex marriage, LGBTQ+ rights, and no-fault divorce. Goes against. | Oppose same-sex marriage, push to restrict no-fault divorce. Follows. | Right (Republicans) |
8. No Steal | Exodus 20:15: "Thou shalt not steal." | Support progressive taxation and wealth redistribution. Goes against if seen as theft. | Favour lower taxes, oppose redistribution. Follows. | Right (Republicans) |
9. No False Witness | Exodus 20:16: "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour." | Misstatements about opponents like Trump; misinformation in politics. Goes against. | False claims about elections, Democrats; misinformation occurs on both sides. Goes against similarly. | Neither (Both sides violate) |
10. No Covet | Exodus 20:17: "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's wife... nor any thing that is thy neighbour's." | Economic rhetoric promotes envy via an inequality focus. Goes against. | Focus on opportunity, downplay class envy. Follows. | Right (Republicans) |
I ask again. If you consider yourself a Christian and yet you support the left, progressives/Marxists, how do you rationalise this in your mind? How can you support people who consistently go against the word of the very God you claim to follow?
The Ten Commandments are the gold standard for morality, the very foundations that all morality is built upon and the left violates every single one of them, as this table shows, and good deeds do not undo bad deeds. I did not write this to be a destination; I wrote it to be a starting point, so... GO!
A final thought. Maybe it is time to spend a little less time screaming about how wrong we are and spend a little more time considering the consequences coming your way if we turn out to be right. Just Saying.
*Exodus 20:7: "Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his Name in vain."
This does not mean yelling "God Damn It!" if you stub your toe or smash a finger. This means doing evil deeds and claiming that you are doing it in the name of God.
**"Thou shalt do no murder."
I use the Geneva Bible 1560 for this very reason. In the KJV (King James Version) and all others based on it say "thou shalt not kill" when in the original texts it says "thou shalt do no murder." There is a significant difference between killing someone and murdering them, and that clarification was lost during the switch to the KJV. Those two interpretations do not mean the same thing, so I recommend doing some more research into that. I also recommend getting geneva Bible 1560 with Aprocrypha or even go further back and get an Ethiopian bible, which is considered the most complete and oldest version there is.
